Beautiful Soup: Pulling Data From the Web

Workshop led by Aster Xiang, GIS Programmer

GIS Lab 308, April 25, 10-11am

Beautiful Soup is a Python library for parsing HTML documents (including having malformed markup, i.e. non-closed tags). It creates a parse tree for parsed pages that can be used to extract data from HTML, so this library is useful for web scraping — extracting data from websites. This workshop will demonstrate how to use Beautiful Soup to pull data out of HTML files. Intermediate knowledge of Python or other object-oriented programming language is recommended.
